Data Requests

The National Library maintains a vast amount of cultural data, which is made available for researchers and other interested users. The data includes both metadata and full texts. Detailed information about the datasets can be found on the overview page, and specific datasets are available on the datasets subpage. The process for sharing data depends on whether the material is public. Further details about the terms of use for materials can be found on the data sharing page.

In cases where the data is public:

  1. Find the relevant data.
  2. Download the data from the Digilab website. For any questions or issues, contact us via the contact forms on the website or at digilab@rara.ee.
  3. Happy exploring!

If the data is protected by copyright:

  1. Copyright-protected data can only be used for text and data mining for research purposes. If you are conducting research, identify the relevant data.
  2. Send an email to digilab@rara.ee describing the nature and scope of your research.
  3. We will evaluate the data request and respond within five working days.
  4. A contract will be signed regarding the use and transfer of the data.
  5. After the contract is finalised, we will prepare the dataset. The dataset will be delivered under the terms agreed upon in the contract.
  6. Happy exploring!
